Description

~ Corporate Accountability International is a member-powered organization that protects human rights, public health, and the environment from corporate abuse around the world. Since 1977, we've secured lifesaving victories in the face of tremendous power, money, and influence. ~

Position Overview

Ready to take on some of the most powerful forces in our society? We're looking for an IT and Operations Organizer to join our fierce, smart team challenging global corporations, holding them accountable, and creating a world where all people can thrive.

Why you'll love coming to work every day:

  • You'll help change the world. We're not kidding. You'll be joining a team that's not satisfied with the world as it is -- and has a vision for how it should be. Add a nearly 40-year track record of winning campaigns and badass plans to win even bigger, and you've got a powerful force to be reckoned with.
  • You'll work with awesome people. Join a team of super-smart, kind, funny, gritty, determined, and optimistic folks. We work hard, celebrate victories large and small, and we'll have your back through it all.
  • You'll be a part of fearless and winning campaigns. We expose and challenge the abuses of the likes of Nestlé, ExxonMobil, Philip Morris International, McDonald's, Dow Chemical, and more. We name names, don't back down, and don't stop until we win.
  • You can take on big responsibilities as you go. Be ready to take on more as you learn and grow. We pay lots of attention to growing staff leadership, and we provide support and training to help you be the best you can be.
  • You'll find a culture of inclusiveness, because it matters in all sorts of ways. We are deeply committed to prioritizing the leadership of those who bear the brunt of corporate abuse: women, people of color, low-income people, people in the Global South, and LGBTQ folks around the world. Our unique culture has been fostered by a long history of women at the helm. We know we are stronger when the organization reflects the vision of the world we're building together.

Responsibilities

What you'll do:

  • We run hard-hitting campaigns and raise money enthusiastically to power our work -- and our IT and operations are the backbone of our effectiveness. Your job will be to provide the operations and IT support we need to win big. You'll be part of a dynamic operations team that ensures all the gears are turning perfectly to help us stay on track and seize the important campaign opportunities as they arise.
  • Key to our success is making sure our administrative and technology systems work in smart and effective ways. Key to your success will be making sure everyone on staff has the training and support they need to use and implement those systems. So you'll also be expected to have your finger on the technology and operations pulse, always looking out for new opportunities to advance our mission.
  • You're going to get to know everyone across the organization as you work with them on their operations and IT needs. From responding to troubleshooting requests, to growing staff skills (so they aren't always coming to you with the same troubleshooting needs!) to improving and maintaining systems to keep up with the organization's growing impact, you'll be the go-to-IT-organizer that helps make big change happen in the world.
What you'll be responsible for in the day-to-day:

  • Providing technical support and training to staff and interns on Windows computer software, phones, video conferencing, website, and other needs in Campaign Headquarters and satellite offices in the Bay Area and Bogotá, Colombia.
  • Train and work with a cross-unit tech team to ensure all staff have the IT support they need.
  • Maintain IT resources, including computers, phones, networks, and servers, managing the day-to-day operations of these systems.
  • Provide support on operational and administrative responsibilities in the office, including reception, physical space, and office organization.
  • Monitor the unit's annual budget for computer and network materials and keep expenses within budget expectations.
  • Participate in organization-wide planning, fundraising, recruitment, and campaign activities.

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • The rampant abuses of corporations and the outrageous amount of power they have make you mad as hell -- and you want to do something about it.
  • You are good with technology -- the person your grandma/uncle/colleagues/friends calls when they're in a technological quandary. And you love to help them figure it out, big or small. You're patient and a good trainer.
  • You're an organizer at heart and maybe by training. You know how to meet people where they're at and move them to action -- whether it's organizing a local grassroots campaign or figuring out how to organize/train people with a range of technological expertise to become adept at setting up VPN connections, for example.
  • Problem solving is your jam. You're creative and you can figure out the most effective way to get from point A to point B. And if your first solution doesn't work, you've got another one up your sleeve.
  • Ten projects on your plate at the same time? No problem. You know how to keep the top priorities on track while keeping costs low.
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in at a nonprofit, including a background in IT, administration, or organizing. Database experience is a major plus.

Compensation: Your salary will be commensurate with experience. Our generous benefit package includes health insurance and dental coverage; FSA for transit, healthcare, and dependent care; and 401(k) with employer match.

  • Generous vacation and holiday policies.
  • Ongoing training and leadership development opportunities.
  • Bright, renovated Campaign Headquarters complete with open, collaborative workspaces, a big social kitchen, and beautiful artwork.
  • Celebrations for important personal and organization milestones.

Corporate Accountability International is an equal opportunity employer and an inclusive organization. People of color, women, and LGBTQ people are strongly encouraged to apply. Join more than 60 smart and driven staff and interns working in this dynamic organization with a powerful network of members and allies around the world.
