Position Overview

E.ON is currently seeking to hire a Senior Solar Engineer. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineer for one or more utility scale solar PV projects.
  • Design, modeling and optimization of E.ON solar photovoltaic projects for new and existing sites.
  • Owner of the technical specifications / Scope of Work for project(s).
  • Manage outside engineering consultants / designers as necessary (with the goal of bringing more of the capabilities in house).
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs and cost estimates; prepares specifications and material requisitions to purchase materials. Supports procurement department by preparing bid evaluation and reviewing offerings.
  • Inspects construction site to ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
  • Develop processes and procedures for project engineering and solar plant design.
  • Educated other engineering team members with your subject matter expertise.
  • Contributes to on-going learning, personally and at the team level -regarding overall system optimization and ongoing cost reduction efforts.
  • Assures the implementation, during all the engineering phases, of the applicable laws and standard requirements regarding Health, Safety and Environment.

Additional Roles if Candidate has SCADA qualifications: 

  • SCADA equipment set-up, programming and parametrization.
  • Supervise and coordinate commissioning of SCADA system, inverters and tracker control & monitoring systems, weather stations, meters, etc. for all new solar projects.
  • Identify and solve SCADA issues which may happen during operation. Conduct daily analysis of SCADA system performance via monitoring & diagnostic.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of electronic and/or electrical system design required.
  • 3+ years of medium voltage design experience.
  • Understanding of PV power plants and the parameters measured, as well as their influence on LCOE.
  • Professional experience with utility, renewables and/or power plant design, construction and operation including design experience in one or more of the following: transmission, substation, distribution, collection, system studies and/or system protection.
  • Solar inverter experience/knowledge a strong positive.
  • Prior PV plant SCADA design, programming and commissioning experience would be a plus. 

Knowledge of control systems, automation, SCADA, PLCs, RTUs & IEDs, including experience in: 

  • Network and fiber optics.
  • VMWare.
  • Serial communications.
  • PV SCADA systems advantageous but not essential.
  • MODBUS TCP/IP network protocol. 
Additionally:  
 
  • Candidates with experience in power electronics preferred.
  • Candidates with international work experience preferred.
