Rogue Advocates works in Josephine and Jackson counties of southwest Oregon, utilizing land use laws to address threats to the quality of life and livability in the Rogue Valley. For 8 years, Rogue Advocates staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to infuse a sense of sustainability in the state and county land use process and ultimately follow our mission: to conserve wildlife habitat, greenbelts, farmland, private forestland, and open spaces while creating livable urban areas and efficient transportation systems.
We use Oregon's land use laws, science, public education and collaboration to advocate for sane and sustainable growth in and around the Rogue Valley. By shaping regional land use decision-making, we aim to assure that the Rogue Valley region maintains its character and retains the beauty, ecological diversity and sustainable agriculture that makes our region special.
Position Overview:
Rogue Advocates is accepting applications for a dedicated and passionate leader to serve as Executive Director to continue to grow and strengthen our organization. The Executive Director oversees development and communications programs, facilitates board communication, empowers and unites staff, oversees organizational finances and administration, publicly promotes the organization, and builds organizational capacity.
The ideal candidate will be able to effectively communicate the importance of the organization's work, while managing the staff, supporting the board of directors, overseeing all financial matters, providing long term strategic vision and working with staff to provide a diversified funding base.
The Executive Director is ultimately responsible for the overall well being of the organization, including financial stability, program capacity, staff morale and performance, public relations, and board development.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- staff and organizational management experience
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- a proven record of fundraising from foundations and major donors
- demonstrated knowledge of land use issues, advocacy tools and passion for sustainable land use, rural places, farmland protection, wildlife, and grassroots movements.

Compensation: The position is located in southwest Oregon and salary/hours are negotiable.
