Description

The Tributary Fund (TTF) is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization as it embarks on its next stage of development. TTF's mission is to, "engage communities in the protection of wildlife and habitat by connecting cultural traditions, religions, and conservation science."

Founded in 2004 as a secular organization established to foster environmental leadership, TTF began its work in the Eg-Uur Watershed Project (EUWP), a collaborative conservation effort in the Hovsgol Province of northern Mongolia for long-term protection of native fish Hucho taimen. TTF quickly discovered that local conservation efforts are more successful when community religious leaders are an integral part of the dialogue and action.

TTF established a collaborative model that is replicable globally and is now active on species and habitat protection efforts in Mongolia, Bhutan and the United States. TTF has a current budget of $429,000 with plans to grow to $1 million over the next 5 years.

Responsibilities:

The new Executive Director at The Tributary Fund will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee preparation of regular financial reporting and 990s for the IRS with accountant.
  • Objectively assess organization and staff performance in implementing the strategic plan, and accordingly make necessary adjustments to ensure plan's successful execution.

  • Build, maintain, manage and support a strong board of directors responsible for overall strategic direction and fiscal health.
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic effectiveness with rigorous program and staff evaluation.
  • Develop, inspire, and manage an effective team of staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree with at least 8 years of senior management experience.
  • Experience in effectively leading an international organization, scaling performance and outcomes based on mission, funding and staff.
  • An understanding of conservation biology and application of protective measures on the ground.
  • Proficiency with emerging technology; ability to communicate effectively with others in diverse locations, which allow interaction with staff, board, and partners around the globe (Skype, web-conferencing, etc...)
  • Proven track record of fundraising, ideally with USAID, World Bank, public foundations, and family foundations.
  • Strong media background (i.e., managing press, conducting interviews, writing press releases, developing media strategy)
  • Good public speaking skills
  • Marketing experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to travel for up to 3 weeks at a time.
  • Proven success in working with a board of directors.
