Description

BURGERVILLE is a 39 location quick-serve restaurant chain in the Pacific NW.  Our business draws it strength for the clarity of our mission, "Serve With Love" and our values, "Fresh, Local, Sustainable."

These guide every business decision we make, and inspire us to continually look for new practices that are good for the local community and environment including; offering hourly employees an affordable $15-a-month health-care plan, purchasing wind power credits equal to total energy use, converting used trans-fat free cooking oil to biodiesel and implementing composting and recycling programs.

Position Overview:

This food supply leadership role will oversee the daily flow of Burgerville's food and packaging supply, ensuring the food we source and serve is safe to eat, affordable for our guests, priced fairly for our local business partners, humanely raised and sustainably produced.  This position will bring a service-oriented and relationship-based approach to all activities including the following core responsibilities:

  1. Purchasing, Contracting and Supplier Relationships
  2. Total Food Cost Management
  3. Food Supply Chain Integration
  4. Food Safety and Sustainability

Responsibilities:

  1. Strengthen the Burgerville brand and our regional food system through innovative buyer/seller partnerships. Work collaboratively to maximize the return to our fresh, local sustainable supply partners and our restaurants, and provide value to our guests. Perform purchasing and contracting activities to meet the year round and seasonal food supply needs of our menu and restaurants.  Locate sources of food, services and supplies, and determine product availability, terms of sale and share values.
  2. Manage the total cost of our food supply spend and contribute directly to food and packaging supply costs trend reporting and forecasting activities as part of the integrated performance management of our food and menu.  Research and report on market conditions and food cost trends.  Identify and lead cost savings, value added sourcing, and distribution initiatives.
  3. Coordinate action laterally across the internal and external players who comprise our food supply chain including local growers, ranchers, suppliers, distributors, restaurant operations teams, service center departments, waste haulers, and other business community partners.  Serve our restaurants as a daily, central point of food supply information and action.
  4. Ensure the presence and continuity of Burgerville's food safety and sustainability values from farm to fork.  Develop and work closely with a network of regional and national experts on food safety and sustainability issues and integrate best practices.  Proactively prevent and mitigate food recalls and interruptions of supply, and ensure recall response readiness throughout our supply chain.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have at least 5 years experience in purchasing and contracting, experience managing food safety standards, knowledge of sustainability issues and best practices, demonstrated track record of total cost management and a commitment to bring a service and relationship focus.
