The U.S. Green Building Council, New York Chapter (USGBC-NY), a nonprofit organization working to advance sustainable buildings in the New York City area, currently has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is interested in being part of the growing green building movement. USGBC-NY is in the process of a significant expansion and this position presents a unique opportunity with a marquee environmental organization.
This Outreach Manager will oversee and develop USGBC-NY's outreach campaign, including planning seminars, developing educational materials including creation of PowerPoint presentations etc, and coordinating with partner organizations. This person will also assist the Executive Director in USGBC-NY's advocacy efforts and special projects. Candidates should have the ability to work well with a diverse staff and volunteers, take on special projects and work independently.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
* Coordinate USGBC-NY speaking and targeted educational events, working with USGBC-NY's Programs & Education Committee
* Create educational presentations and materials to encourage green building among various market segments
* Assist in the development of green building resources, including a virtual green building resource center
* Liaise with partners to maximize the effectiveness of and minimize duplication among the many organizations now promoting green building
* Assist the Executive Director in advocacy efforts, including the greening of the City's building codes " Represent USGBC-NY at certain events
Qualifications/Skills:
* B.A. or higher degree; architectural or engineering degree a plus
* At least 3 years work experience
* Background or skills in outreach and advocacy, educational programming / training and event coordination
* Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks
* Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
* Strong organizational and computer skills (MS Office)
* Strong interest in and understanding of green building and USGBC mission
