With more than ten thousand individual supporters and 150 corporate and organizational partners, including Dell, Lancome, Orbitz, Working Assets and the National Wildlife Federation, Carbonfund.org is a rapidly growing non-profit organization. Carbonfund.org supports renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation projects globally.
We seek to add a Full-Time Communications Manager to develop and implement a communications and media outreach program for the organization. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience developing communications programs and working extensively with the media, preferably in the environmental arena. The ability to take charge, provide leadership and guide the communications plan to effectively increase the exposure of our mission and organization to the media and mass public is essential.
Roles and Responsibilities
§ Developing and implementing a comprehensive communications and outreach program
§ Developing communications materials, including press releases, Media Kits, etc.
§ Working with the media to develop stories about the mission of Carbonfund.org and increase awareness to climate change, carbon offsets, and Carbonfund.org
§ Responding to media requests for assistance and story support
§ Developing media interview opportunities for the Executive Director
§ Developing relationships with online magazines and websites
§ Overseeing our web presence, blog and newsletter
Qualifications
§ Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced organization
§ 3-5 years experience developing media outreach programs
§ Abilities with New Media - blogs, e-newsletters, etc.
§ Understanding of global warming
§ Fast learner, ability to think critically and operate on tight deadlines
§ Must be a leader, with a vision for creating and growing an organization
