Director of External Affairs

The Colorado Conservation Trust (CCT) is a statewide community foundation for land conservation.

Our mission is to preserve Colorado's special places - its agricultural lands, wildlife habitats, and open spaces - by fostering leadership, strategic initiatives, and increased conservation investments.

Duties:
CCT has an opening for a motivated and creative development professional to help shape the future of this new organization and protect important open space. The Director of External Affairs is responsible for Development and Communications.

• Develop and implement a program to raise significant funding from individuals, corporations and foundations to support CCT's grantmaking programs and other programs and activities of the organization.
• Work closely with the Executive Director, Board, other volunteers and staff to raise funds.
• Support efforts of Executive Director and Board to cultivate and solicit prospects.
• Significant focus will be on major gifts.
• Prepare proposals for foundations and corporations.
• Oversee the development and implementation of the solicitation of annual gifts from CCT's supporters.
• Plan and implement a capital campaign.
• Identify and research prospects.
• Manage and solicit a portfolio of prospective donors.
• Manage the work of a part-time assistant.
• Work with Executive Director, consultants and staff to refine and tailor CCT's message, develop and update materials - including case statements, newsletters, and Powerpoint presentations - and generate positive press coverage.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years experience in fund-raising.
• Previous experience with a conservation organization or foundation is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to and passion for protecting Colorado's special places are essential.
• Salary range: $60,000 - $75,000 and employee and health benefits.
