Description

Background:


The Delaware Riverkeeper Network with offices in Washington Crossing and St.
Peters, Pennsylvania is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and
restoring the Delaware River and its tributaries.


Duties:


The Restoration Specialist participates in all aspects of restoration work including
field assessments, project design, permitting, ordering materials and plants,
managing volunteers, and developing post-project plans and documents.
Restoration activities involve riparian buffers, stream banks, channel stability, dam
removal, public education, invasive plants, and habitat. Projects typically involve
working with state and local agencies, and various watershed and conservation
groups. Technical assistance is also given to landowners. Some weekend and
evening work is involved.


Qualifications:


Minimum of a BS in biology, botany, landscape design, engineering, horticulture,
hydrology or other relevant field is required. Strong organizational,
communication, and computer skills plus some knowledge of native plant usage,
planting design, bioengineering, erosion control, and/or stream restoration
techniques are also required. Grant writing, plant identification and GIS skills are
pluses.


Compensation:


Mid-$20,000's plus a flexible, congenial work environment. Expenses for
work-related use of personal vehicle are reimbursed. Health benefits package is
available after probation period. This is a permanent position, contingent upon
available funding.
