Description
A new position created at this Sonoma County non-profit. The programs focus on environmental education and land restoration programs. This position requires documented success of min. 500K+ per year in private donor fundraising, corporate giving and grant writing.
We are looking for a person who also has the strong ability to create spirit of community participation in long-range goals. This is a full-time, salaried position with a community-based, environmental not-for-profit established in 1990.
Job Description:
*Work with the Board of Directors on identifying funding needs
*Secure funding for general operations, special projects and endowment
*Develop/Execute a sustainable fundraising strategy
*Develop network of regular corporate/private donors
*Maintain donor database
*Identify sources of Foundation grant money; write grants
*Create giving opportunities, large and small-year round
*Develop planned giving and legacy strategies
*Serve on Board of Director's Fundraising and Finance committees
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Documented success in raising at least $500,000 per year
*Minimum 5 years experience in Private-donor fundraising and grant writing
*Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or B.A. preferred
*Excellent communication and writing skills
*Computer Proficiency, Microsoft Office Suite
*Ability to work independently
*Experience managing others, including volunteers and interns

Our Mission statement is to preserve, restore, and enhance the Laguna de Santa Rosa, to study and understand its history and future, to educate, and increase awareness of its attributes.
The Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation is committed to improving the environmental quality of the Laguna and accomplishes this goal through preserving and restoring areas of the Laguna, promoting a land steward ethic among public and private landowners, and supporting environmentally and economically sustainable land use practices.
The Laguna is an important stopover for thousands of birds migrating along the Pacific Flyway and is the permanent home to a wide variety of life dependent on the wetland and the surrounding upland areas.
In addition to the habitat it provides for wildlife, the Laguna is used for agricultural, recreational and educational purposes.The Laguna Foundation seeks opportunities to reach members of the public and introduce them to various aspects of the Laguna. The Foundation's docent program also provides environmental and historical education for school children.
Opportunities & Challenges --
The Board of Directors envisions the creation of a Laguna Sanctuary encompassing more than 10,000 acres, and containing a variety of connected biological and physical features that reflect the historical natural environment. The process of creating this Sanctuary will engage many sectors of the Sonoma County community and beyond so that it will serve, in perpetuity, as a place for people, animals and plants to live in harmony. The position of Development Director is key to achieving this outcome.
COMPENSATION:
Above industry standards, plus $$ incentives based on fundraising successes.
