~ In 2018, 350 Action aims to make climate change a top tier political issue, advance our demands for a just and equitable transition away from fossil fuels to 100% renewable energy for all, mobilize the climate base, and challenge climate denialism and fossil fuel industry influence at all levels of government. ~
The approach will lean heavily on innovative communications and digital organizing to find, inspire, and turn-out the millions of people in the United States who care about climate change but aren’t making it to the ballot box. In short: we want to become the go-to campaign for everyone who cares about the climate and wants to make an impact around the 2018 election.

Position Overview
350.org is looking to hire a talented campaign manager to help lead our work around the 2018 US elections at both 350.org, a 501c(3) organization and 350 Action, a 501(c)(4)4 organization.
The 350.org Voter Engagement Manager will oversee nationwide campaigns in the US. In this role, you’ll be able to help refine and execute the political strategy for 350 Action, one of the country’s leading climate advocacy organizations. You’ll manage a team of a talented staff, as well as work with the wider 350 Action team. This role reports to 350.org’s US Program Director.
Our ideal candidate is someone who brings a background in political organizing, but also has a talent for groundbreaking digital and communications work. Your understanding of what makes for effective messaging and digital strategy will be just as important as your talent in managing field staff. 350.org is a highly collaborative environment: the best candidates will be those who thrive in this sort of team-based setting.
Responsibilities
- Refine and develop political strategy for 2018
- Manage a team to implement 350 Action’s 2018 strategy, turning out climate voters and establishing resistance to fossil fuel infrastructure and support for 100% renewable energy as key litmus tests for want-to-be climate champions
- Work with 350’s digital team to engage tens of thousands of new supporters and donors in our work
- Work with 350 local groups to help them develop and implement a strategy for the 2018 election
- Manage field staff
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Strategic campaign development expertise and excellent problem-solving skills
- Highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects at once without sacrificing quality.
- Experience at the intersection of online and offline organizing, mobilization, and direct action
- Creativity and comfort with experimenting with new tools and tactics
- Experience managing diverse teams of organizers, political, press and digital campaigners
- Proven track record of working successfully with coalition partners
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to write for a variety of audiences and platforms
- Knowledge of and dedication to the climate movement, and/or other movements for social justice. Commitment to building grassroots power as a means to effect change
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with team members who are often remote
- Able to make management and political decisions quickly and effectively, even without having all the information you might need
- Excellent time management skills and commitment to healthy work-life balance
- Engage in and support the organization's commitment to advancing and creating an equitable and inclusive work culture
Desired (but not required) skills and experiences:
- 5+ years of experience managing political and/or issue campaigns
- 3+ years of high-level strategic planning or project management experience
- A deep commitment to developing a deeper understanding around intersectionality, climate justice and allyship organizing
- Proven ability to work effectively with people from diverse racial, ethnic, class, age, gender, and sexual orientation backgrounds
- At least one cycle running volunteer or field operations on an electoral campaign
- Knowledge of legal limits on 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 affiliated organizations
- Professional digital campaigning experience
- Ability to train others on online campaigning tools and offline campaigning skills
Compensation: Competitive compensation based on experience.
