Description
~ Everyone's Harvest's mission is to provide access to healthy, affordable fruits and vegetables through certified farmers' markets and community food programs. ~
The vision is for every community to have a fair and sustainable food system. More than 2,000 families are served weekly by Everyone's Harvest markets in Salinas, Marina, and Pacific Grove - with more than 25 small and mid-scale farmers serving them. Everyone's Harvest takes pride in the growing community of people who value organic food and rely on Everyone's Harvest for access to local fresh fruits and vegetables.
Position Overview
Everyone's Harvest is seeking a full-time Americorps Volunteer Infrastructure Program (VIP) Fellow! The VIP Fellow will support Everyone's Harvest (EH) in increasing the capacity and engagement of our volunteer program. Term of Fellowship: September 2016 to August 2017.
Everyone's Harvest has had previous success in creating a Volunteer Mentoring Program that worked closely with our farmers' markets, community food programs, and the Goodwill Garden. The 2016-17 VIP Fellow will continue to support market, office, and program operations.
Volunteer support will be essential to the growth of our Fresh Rx program. Fresh Rx is an innovative partnership between healthcare providers and farmers' markets focused on preventive health care to fight the rise of chronic diseases related to obesity and weight. Doctors identify and "prescribe" fresh fruits and vegetables to young overweight patients and direct them to the farmers' markets where they can receive $25 worth of fresh produce weekly.
A unique volunteer infrastructure program for Fresh Rx will be essential to supporting its growth and positive impact. The Americorps VIP Fellow will report to the Executive Director and will work directly with the Program Coordinator and Market Manager.
