Position Overview:
TÜV SÜD America Inc., a global leader in product safety, regulatory affairs and certification, has an immediate opening in Peabody, Massachusetts for a: Team Leader Energy Assessment and Due Diligence, Wind Energy.
TÜV SÜD America Inc's wind energy department is expanding its presence in the US and NAFTA region, and is looking to add a Team Leader to complement the existing team. The position requires a solid understanding of wind farm development, in particular of wind resource and energy assessments. Applying our internal methods and quality standards, we assist project developers in the initial stages from met towers all the way to obtain financing by providing the final bankable reports. Our other track supports the financier, where we act as engineers to qualify projects, including a detailed risk assessment.
TÜV SÜD has a strong position in the European industry. Since we expanded into the US in 2010 we have experienced successful growth. Our locations are in Germany, Scotland, India and China. The team leader position requires at least a basic understanding of all strategic responsibilities and a profound understanding of all technical responsibilities, including proficiency in modeling with WAsP or Windpro.
Responsibilities:
Technical responsibilities:
- Solid understanding of wind resource assessment data collection for met towers, LIDAR and SODAR data, including quality procedures and application of respective standards
- Conduct MCP analysis, wind farm layout design and optimization
- Analyze the energy production potential
- Perform risk assessment for energy yield and generate final reports
- Consult our customers along the way in your field of expertise
- Satisfy strong quality requirements with every piece of work
- Understand P&L related issues in order to generate quotes, operate project within budget and handle invoicing
- Further experience in terms of environmental aspects, electrical & civil design, construction or operation of wind farms is desired but not immediately required
Strategic responsibilities:
- Ability to lead and guide a small team, including resource planning, developing strategies and maintain internal quality standards
- Extensive business development to further support our sales efforts
- Establish and expand our internal quality guidelines and procedures
- Communicate with our international wind offices to leverage additional opportunities and implement new products in our US portfolio
- Understanding the wind market and its development and support the Director with his decision making process
- Represent our business at international tradeshows as well as in personal meetings with customers, also to increase our brand recognition within the industry
Qualifications:
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Atmospheric sciences, or other technical fields;
- A minimum of 3 years wind energy experience e.g. Wind Turbine Engineer, Wind Energy Analyst, Wind Energy Expert;
- Excellent client relations skills and project management skills;
- Proven track record within industry:
- Existing industry network and exposure to manufacturers, project developers, banks, and investors:
- Demonstrated strengths in solving complex technical problems, and in providing technical review;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to integrate diverse technical information into a clear understanding of risks and appropriate mitigation measures;
- Experience with wind modeling software WAsP and WindPro is required, optionally also with Windfarmer, Windsim, ArcGIS and other tools commonly used in the industry
- An appreciation for renewable energy and quality;
- Willingness to travel
