We lead the industry in Sustainable Design & High Performance Building Technology, and work with clients throughout the project conception, design, construction, and operation phases.

Position Overview:

We currently have an exceptional opportunity for a Sustainable Design Engineer in our Los Angeles office.

Major Activities:

The primary function is to aide in the success of the "Sustainable Design and High Performance Building Group," and in particular provide useful project consultation, analysis, and design assistance to improve the quality and environmental sensitivity of Syska Hennessy Group projects.

To this end, duties include: project consulting, developing company talent through education, training, and recruitment; aiding in business development and project interviews.

Responsibilities:

Project Design:

  • Leading in-house and out-of-house design charrettes   
  • Incorporating the integrated design effort   
  • Overseeing building simulations not limited to energy modeling, facade evaluation, thermal comfort, and shading analyses

Design Consulting

  • Attend in-house and out-of-house design charrettes   
  • Provide guidance for incorporating sustainable principles   
  • Consult on project design element   
  • Provide Quality Assurance reviews to ensure project goals met

LEED

  • Becoming the point of contact for the USGBC Los Angeles Chapter   
  • Coordinating LEED Accreditation training for Los Angeles Office   
  • Assist in-house design teams in the application of LEED on projects   
  • Oversee the preparation of LEED documentation

R&D

  • Contributing to S&H research projects   
  • Reviewing, researching, and recommending new equipment, design, and control strategies   
  • Participating in firm wide and Los Angeles Office Technical Leadership Committee
