Description
We are looking for an exceptional communicator with in-depth knowledge of the sustainability environment and a desire to help develop Solenis’ narrative in this area and ensure the brand is positioned as a sustainability leader in the specialty chemicals arena. This person will be responsible for Sustainability communications, report writing, and content generation.
You will have an in-depth knowledge of the sustainability environment, a technical background in chemical markets or similar with a track record in writing and reporting. Alternatively, you may have a background as a technical journalist or researcher with specialization in sustainability around specialty chemicals, human rights, climate change, development or other relevant field.
Sustainability report
- Responsible for planning, execution and preparation of Solenis’ sustainability report including interface with all SMEs on the various topics to help them to conceptualize their story and ensure all topics are covered.
- Establish an annualized plan with milestones
- Partner with SME for reporting standard requirements and other associated assessments
- Ensure all data for the report is accurately recorded in the Solenis systems of record
- Facilitate data assurance process
- Collaborate with Communications, Branding, and Sustainability to develop reporting themes and creative content
- Ongoing work to help SME plan, draft and implement web updates
- Interface with web masters on implementation
- Participation on Sustainability Task Force (STF)
Thought leadership
- Partner with key functions to help shape our thought leadership messages for key stakeholder audiences and translate complex ideas for these different
- Write clearly and concisely, both in long publications (eg briefing notes and reports) and short forms (such as news articles, press releases, social media and blog posts)
- Support the SMEs to conceptualize ideas, perspectives, tools and methodologies and communicate them internally and externally
Storytelling and Internal Communications
- Create communication strategy to regularly update internal stakeholders around our success stories linked to sustainability to ensure enterprise engagement.
- Coordinate and drive engagement through a sustainability townhall meeting to drive the important and awareness in the organization.
- Use your analytical skills and knowledge to draw out the stories behind our data and communicate them in an impactful way
- Help other Solenis stakeholders produce written outputs in various forms, from developing concepts and structure, to providing editorial support.
- Support the eLearning team, developing concepts and translating complex technical ideas into training content
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferably in sustainability, environmental science, marketing, communication, education
- Additional related experience may substitute for specific sustainability degree
Experience:
- 5 years’ experience, preferably in sustainability, ESG reporting, marketing, communication or education roles
- Experience managing projects
- Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) or the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). Experience with data reporting frameworks such as Ecovadis, the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the Task Force for Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD), or the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge or familiarity with corporate reporting including key voluntary ESG frameworks like GRI, CSRD, TCFD (ISSB) and the ability to proactively provide guidance on evolving trends
- Expertise in PowerPoint and Word
- Knowledge of data visualization, visual language
- Analytical skills to identify and emphasis key messages and themes
- Ability to integrate information from different sources and threads to a compelling narrative
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $102,300 and $143,220, plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
