POSITION SUMMARY

Epsilon is seeking a full-time Staff or Project Scientist to support our offshore wind and other renewable energy practice areas in the Northeast. This is an entry-level position within Epsilon’s expanding offshore wind team. The selected candidate will support all aspects of environmental permitting for offshore wind and other coastal projects including submission of Site Assessment Plans (SAPs) and Construction and Operations Plans (COPs) to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).

Potential tasks include assisting in the development of physical, biological, and socioeconomic resource assessments (onshore and offshore), participating in studies, tracking permit requirements, participating in agency and client meetings, and limited field surveys. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent written and communication skills, and strong attention to detail. The position requires an ability to understand and retain complex information, meet deadlines, and work with a team.

Previous environmental consulting experience (particularly in the offshore wind, electric transmission, and renewable energy sectors) is beneficial but not specifically required for this entry level position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental/marine science, biology, geology, engineering, planning, or a related physical sciences discipline; Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 0 to 5+ years of relevant professional experience in the energy market, with a focus on providing environmental permitting and consulting services to energy clients in the United States.
  • Strong written, public speaking, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel, prepare for and participate in public hearings and conduct field work / studies.

WORKING CONDITIONS IN WHICH THE DUTIES ARE PERFORMED

Epsilon maintains a professional office located in an historic mill complex in Maynard, MA. Office space is clean, quiet, and friendly. Remote and/or hybrid work options are also available in which candidates residing outside of the greater Boston area may work from their home. Epsilon is especially seeking candidates in the Northeast US.
