STAFF ACCOUNTANT
The Staff Accountant will perform general accounting activities and support the finance and accounting department on various projects and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform accurate and timely accounts receivable activities including daily cash receipt processing and month-end/year-end closing schedule preparation.
- Perform bank, investment and general ledger account entries and reconciliation. Activities include account analysis, research, journal entry and supporting documentation preparation, internal cash transfer forms, and other related tasks.
- Perform various Accounts Payable tasks e.g., vendor verification and set-up, creation and management of purchase orders within the accounting system, etc.
- Assist with annual financial statement audits, periodic financial reviews and various regulatory/informational filings.
- Interface with various members of the Foundation including, but not limited to, grants management, development and program personnel.
- Support various Finance and Accounting team responsibilities and perform other accounting duties assigned by the Assistant Controller or Controller.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain accurate files and records related to various assigned tasks.
- Suggest/Develop new processes where needed to improve existing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
- One to three years’ experience in accounting and strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word required.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational and follow-through skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Self-starter, highly motivated, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Non-profit and Federal Uniform Grant Guidance a plus.
- Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint a plus.
COMPENSATION
Commensurate with experience.
