Description
Illinois River Energy, LLC operates a dry mill, corn-based processing facility which produces fuel grade ethanol and two forms of distiller's grains. The ethanol plant is located in Rochelle, Illinois where it processes over 40 million bushels of corn per year. The facility annually produces up to 115 million gallons of denatured fuel grade ethanol and over 300,000 tons of dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS).
Position Overview:
Illinois River Energy has an immediate opening for a Shift Laboratory Technician at its Rochelle, Illinois plant. The Shift Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing chemical and biological analytical testing and calibrations to support reliable, efficient, and high throughput operations and to ensure strict quality control standards are met on all products.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate for this position must possess good communication skills and be able to convey laboratory results to Operations personnel.
This position is a rotating position of days and evenings, 7 days on and 7 days off, 12-hour shifts of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The Shift Laboratory Technician reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
To qualify for this position the successful candidate must have:
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience with fermentation and/or distillation processes in industry or academia
- Associates Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related technical field
- Expertise with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook)
- Must have knowledge of the basic principles and have demonstrated capability to quickly gain proficiency in the usage, maintenance, and user-level programming of new computerized laboratory equipment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to properly utilize personal protective equipment in order to safely handle laboratory and process chemicals and antibiotics
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs
Qualifications preferred:
- Experience in a dry-mill ethanol refinery laboratory
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology or related technical field
- Some formal education in fermentation and distillation processes in a dry-mill ethanol refinery
Compensation: 16.00 - 17.50/hour
