Position Overview
HSB, as part of the Munich Re group, is looking for a Senior Renewable Energy Engineer to join our team. This position is responsible for the project management and technical evaluation associated with the technical due diligence of project acquisitions and asset management activities in support of Munich Re group’s global renewable energy M&A program. Additionally, this position will provide technical support for development and management of renewable energy related insurance products. The position is located primarily in Hartford, CT.
Position Description:
HSB provides technical and commercial due diligence and risk evaluations for the ongoing expansion of Munich RE’s global renewable energy investment and insurance program, as well as technical expertise on owned and insured assets. Our renewable energy engineering knowledge, experience and evaluations are a key part of the decision process.
The Senior Renewable Energy Engineer’s role is to manage the technical due diligence by providing technical consulting services to verify that identified opportunities are suitable for the Munich Re / HSB business. Particular importance shall be given to perception of project technical risks (from a technical and commercial perspective) and the required actions to classify and mitigate these risks. The successful candidate will play an important role in the final investment decision processes of all renewable assets. In addition this role supports the asset managers and insurance business with its technical and commercial knowledge to develop and successfully grow the business profitably.
Responsibilities
As Senior Renewable Energy Engineer, the individual will be expected to:
- Be the overall project manager of the technical due diligence process.
- This involves managing the project internally, managing external sub suppliers, and ensuring the timely delivery of the final evaluation.
- Provide renewable energy technical guidance and expertise to the wider group.
- Support the continuous improvement of the business.
- Be willing to manage complex tasks under tight timeframes.
Qualifications
Required:
- A Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of technical and/or commercial experience with renewable energy power generation with specific knowledge in Wind and/or Solar PV.
- Strong commercial and technical awareness and understanding of system components.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including commercial, financial and technical in an global environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities as well as sound writing, communication and interpersonal / international skills.
- Willingness to travel, both domestic and international. 25% travel may be required.
Desired:
- Master’s Degree.
- Experience with the technical due diligence of renewable energy assets in North America or Europe is highly desirable
- Financial and contract review experience is a plus.
