Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is a 260-person environmental consulting firm with 40 years of experience specializing in all aspects of project planning, environmental analysis and assessment, natural resource management, and regulatory compliance.  Our talented team of scientists, planners, and other experts assist clients ranging from government agencies to non-profits to private industry.

Position Overview:

ESA is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Energy group located in San Francisco, CA. The position requires a Masters degree and 3+ years in consulting/land use related field. Management of smaller/moderate EIR and analysis for complex projects. Proposal writing and business development experience a plus.

Responsibilities: 

Some of the key responsibilities will be to take on a Deputy Project Manager Role on CPUC Projects as well as Project Manager role on small/moderate CEQA/NEPA projects.  Will conduct CEQA/NEPA section writing as well review and provide project coordination support; as well as work with other Bay Area Energy Staff. Will be responsible for writing proposals and small scale business development.

Qualifications: 

This position requires:

  • A well organized person with effective problem-solving ability, excellent writing skills, and the ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Knowledge of current regulatory environment regarding natural resources management specific to energy and a working knowledge of CEQA and NEPA compliance.
  • Experience managing Initial Studies (IS), Mitigated Negative Declarations (MND), Environmental Assessments (EA), Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and/or small scale Environmental Impact Reports (EIR)/Statements (EIS) as well as DPM on larger projects.
