Coal Basin Ranch is near Redstone, Colorado, and is the former site of a  large-scale mining operation. The ranch is a model showing how restoration and recreation can come together to broaden public perspectives about stewardship.

Position Overview

Coal Basin Ranch Community Trail System is looking for 3 seasonal Restoration Crew Members. Located 3.9 miles west of Redstone, Colo. Check out our Facebook page to see many great images of the work that's been done so far to heal these lands and bring people together.

Responsibilities:

  • Eradicate non-native plants;
  • amend soil;
  • spread native seed & plant native vegetation;
  • build erosion-control structures; and
  • collect native grass and forb seed to be used for habitat restoration.
  • Crew may also engage in trail maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with ecological restoration, native seed collection and working in remote wilderness areas preferred.
  • Pesticide applicator license desired but not required.
  • Crew members are expected to provide their own transportation.

Compensation

  • $32/hour.
  • Temporary seasonal employee, 40 Hours/Week, Mon-Friday. June 1–Sept 2024
  • Liability insurance and campsite provided if needed but no benefits (health insurance or otherwise) available.
