Position Overview

We have an amazing opportunity for a person with 2-4 years of PV Solar Installation experience to fill our Residential Solar Service Technician position. Candidates with existing Service experience will be given preference during the hiring process.

Our Service Department has enormous growth potential as well, and the right candidate would have the opportunity to help this division of our company continue to grow at an exceptional rate.

Responsibilities

Who We Need:

  • Do you prefer to work for a professional company who makes customer service, both internal and external, one of its top priorities? Do you enjoy problem solving with no two days ever being the same?
  • Our Service Technicians troubleshoot, inspect, install, modify and maintain solar PV systems and maintaining equipment. Responsibilities of the role include:
  • Commission PV Systems, including but not limited to; insulation testing, I-V curve testing, thermal imagery, torque tests and performance evaluations
  • Troubleshoot PV system performance issues and locate & isolate ground faults
  • Perform OEM testing, troubleshooting, repairs and upgrades/revision to a broad rand of equipment in the renewable industry
  • Document equipment including serial numbers, and perform inspections on systems that SVSS did not originally install
  • Install and configure monitoring equipment after commissioning and train homeowners on how to use
  • Educate and answer questions for new and existing customers on how solar PV systems perform and operate
  • Track, update and close service requests within a customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Assist with equipment warranty and vendor RMA process for customers

Note: Extensive solar experience is a must to be considered as a candidate.

Requirements

Extensive solar experience is a must to be considered as a candidate. Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities include:

  • Driving is an essential function of this position; a qualified candidate must meet the requirements to be an authorized driver on our insurance policy.
  • Previous experience installing solar PV systems and a high school diploma, or equivalent, are required.  
  • Candidates must have a strong understanding of solar PV design, installation, and troubleshooting, plus an intermediate understanding of electrical wiring, sizing conduit, sizing wire, and bending pipe.
  • TEAM is one of our core values which means that candidates possess excellent team working skills and the ability to foster a positive environment through collaborative decision making.
  • Service Technicians will use standard MS applications, especially MS Excel for use in analyzing system information and performance trends.  Familiarity with CRM systems and web based monitoring solutions are also essential.

Preferred but not required: 

  • Associates degree or greater;
  • NABCEP certification; and
  • OSHA 30, fall protection, ladders & scaffold, and aerial lift certification.

  • This is a full time hourly position based in Chandler, AZ. Drug Tests, Background Checks and MVD reports will be performed on all final candidates.

  • Final candidates must be able to comfortably lift 75 lbs, climb ladders, crouch, bend, kneel, stand for long periods of time, work on rooftops, perform work in varying temperatures and in adverse weather conditions, speak clearly both over the phone and in person.
