Description

Impact Carbon's mission is to improve health and the environment through clean energy projects that reduce carbon emissions.

Impact Carbon generates carbon-emission reductions from household energy projects that improve living conditions in the less-developed communities we serve.  We leverage the financial returns from these projects to benefit local partners and people.

Position Overview:

Impact Carbon is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Analyst to lead field research, analysis, and publishing of study results. The Research Analyst will manage Impact Carbon impact assessment initiatives for both carbon offset projects and behavioral research.

The position requires strong research, writing, and analytic skills, as well as a strong background in study design, statistical analysis (fluency in statistical software is a plus), scientific method, field research, and climate issues. The ideal candidate will also have experience in designing and managing field studies such as quantitative and qualitative impact assessments and behavioral research. A track record of publications or reports is a plus.

The Research Analyst will be responsible for managing the execution of all aspects of field research from study design, training field teams, data management and quality control, data analysis, and report writing. The Research Analyst may be responsible for multiple projects in multiple countries at the same time. The position may be based in San Francisco or East Africa (e.g., Uganda, Kenya, or Rwanda) and will include approximately 25% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all components of field research including study design, training, survey design, data management, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Coordinate field surveys and new product testing.
  • Analyze and interpret data from quantitative and qualitative studies.
  • Manage the implementation of field studies.
  • Conduct literature review on topics related to household energy and health, and analyze datasets.

Qualifications:

  • Strong research, analytical, and writing experience in previous employment. Advanced degree in science, engineering, environmental, or energy sciences preferred.
  • Understanding of scientific research design and statistics, and quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Project management experience with 1 to 3 years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in climate change policy and carbon markets.

Compensation: Impact Carbon pays competitive salaries that depend on ability and experience.
