Position Overview
Our renewable energy strategic planning group develops innovative approaches to solving the industry's next generation of challenges. Our projects span the spectrum of planning for the integration of a million solar roofs to assessing the value of transcontinental transmission of renewable energy.
Our team is at the forefront of the intersection of technology, economics and policy.
The primary purpose of the Renewable Energy Strategic Planning Project Manager position is to manage multiple renewable energy client projects, including small to medium sized Services projects and/or a small EPC projects.
Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position will serve in a project manager role leading renewable energy projects in the areas of strategic planning, resource planning, and system planning.
- The candidate will serve as the project manager on multiple small to medium size renewable energy consulting and engineering services projects to meet the goals of ours and those of our clients.
- The PM will develop new RE business and work with the RE sales and marketing team under the guidance of the project director.
- The PM will help implement the renewable energy business plan and oversee budget expenditures supporting the plan.
- The position will include assessment of all renewable energy and energy storage technologies: solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, hydro and marine.
This position involves:
- Lead and contribute to proposals. Guide scope, budget, and schedule development. Work with proposal staff to develop quality proposals.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently and be responsible for quality of client deliverables.
- Work with clients to address complex issues regarding current and future of renewable energy in regulated and deregulated markets.
- Develop and mentor others in financial analysis of renewable energy projects under various incentive conditions. Understanding of key drivers that impact economics for multiple renewable energy options is critical.
- Lead development of innovative tools and approaches to address emerging issues in the RE industry such as high distributed generation penetration, distribution system impacts, and integration with the T&D system.
- Seller-doer role in business development with key clients including identification of key drivers, scoping, proposal development, and relationship management.
- Supervise staff including performance reviews, career development, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Lead and contribute to the authorship of reports, studies, and proposals.
- Build, mentor and motivate multi-disciplinary teams.
- Implements safety, quality, ethical standards, lessons learned, and performance management in accordance with Business Policies, standards, and guides.
- Obtain new and repeat business and support contract negotiations.
- Manage risk which may include fixed priced service contracts, new technologies, and/or new clients.
- Manage project budgets, costs, financial reporting and accounts payable.
- Understand and apply contract commercial terms.
- Apply risk identification, mitigation, and management practices.
- Represent us through speaking engagements and participation in industry events.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7 years experience.
- Knowledge and experience with a variety of renewable technologies: biomass, wind, geothermal, solar, hydro, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates with related experience with renewable energy are strongly preferred.
- 10 years experience with progressive responsibilities in the energy industry, especially with respect to strategic planning and renewable energy planning.
- Distribution system modeling. Familiar with one or more of these modeling tools such as CYMdist, OpenDSS, Grid Lab-D, etc.
- Working knowledge of power market modeling and renewables integration analysis.
- Working knowledge of other "grid-edge" technologies, such as energy storage and demand response solutions.
- Experience with renewables in international markets
- Understanding of rate making and regulatory issues related to renewable energy.
