Mesa Associates, Inc. is expanding its power generation services through the creation of a management level position within the Power Generation business unit that is focused on renewable power generation. In order to support this new initiative, Mesa seeks an experienced and driven candidate that can build and lead a team of engineers and designers to execute and manage multi-discipline renewable energy projects.

In order to support this new initiative, Mesa seeks an experienced and driven candidate that can build a team of engineers and designers to execute and manage multi-discipline engineering projects.

Position Overview

The Renewable Energy Program Manager position facilitates the Business Unit’s efficient operation by establishing goals for assigned client or portfolio, identifying business opportunities, directing bid/proposal activities, and monitoring program performance. The candidate will have responsibility for a renewable generation program supporting the Power Generation Business Unit.. The candidate will be responsible for every aspect of the customer’s business from current needs to future project needs. This position will report to the Power Generation Business Unit Vice President. This position is required to generate sales, build trust, and foster customer relations, and manage profitability of the responsible customers in support of the power generation strategic plan. The position will be responsible for all work associated with their assigned customers to include managing program and project leaders, communications with customers, and tracking profit and loss for all projects.

Position Profile 

This candidate will require the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of the renewable generation markets, including solar, wind, and other technologies.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience and expertise in leading and managing renewable power generation projects and studies.
  • Ability to perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively with clients, vendors, engineers, colleagues, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, scheduling software and possesses working knowledge of corporate accounting practices and business operations.
  • Possess willingness to develop, promote and comply with Mesa safety requirements.
  • Possesses ability to understand and implement new processes/procedures regarding Project, Program and Portfolio management.

General:

  • Communicates effectively with clients on a regular basis; this includes keeping clients informed of issues that could adversely affect project execution or impact scope, schedule, or budget performance.
  • Coordinate/Communicate with Peers – Works with project team to avoid or eliminate/mitigate schedule and budget impacts resulting from changes.

Project Delivery:

  • Will work to manage and coordinate project efforts and business initiatives in a programmatic way.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining vision and direction towards business unit goals.

Business Development:

  • Proactively communicates and promotes Mesa capabilities/strengths to new and existing customers.
  • Interfacing with potential or existing clients, listens for and seeks out new projects that may exist or are being formulated.
  • Maintains relationships with existing or potential clients.
  • Meets regularly with key clients to discuss current/future projects, evaluate Mesa performance, and identify other business opportunities either with current clients or through referrals.
  • Provides management and leadership support by leveraging project selection and execution success to achieve strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Required:
    • 7 - 20 years: Minimum 7 years of experience and expertise in leading and managing renewable power generation projects and studies.

Education/Experience/Licensure:

  • Bachelors or better in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $125K to $175K
    • The expected compensation is a range determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate, internal equity, work location, and hiring department’s fiscal resources.
