Responsibilities for Renewable Energy Analyst Role

  • Meteorological and/or solar data processing, quality control, and management
    • Meteorological tower, solar resource assessment station, and remote sensing (sodar and lidar) data management
    • Verification of equipment location, configuration, and operation
    • Tracking and reporting of client raw data file activity
    • Processing raw data files to produce time series
    • Applying quality control processes to raw data to produce finished products for use in energy assessments
    • Regular internal and client status communication
  • Spatial analysis, mapping, and visualization
    • Create clear, concise maps indicating key project attributes and points of interest
    • Develop and modify mapping files to support technical analyses
    • Analyze and interpret topography and geographic proximity characteristics to support technical analyses
    • Develop wind turbine array designs based on wind resource, terrain, equipment dimensions, client inputs, and defined constraints
  • Preparation of technical analysis reports
    • Wind energy resource assessment reports: summarize key monthly wind and climate statistics, predict long-term wind speeds, vertical data extrapolation, wind map production, conversion of wind speed to gross energy, calculation of gross-to-net loss factors, calculation of project uncertainties, preparation of hourly energy production simulations, summarize results in a clear and technically sound format using defined report structure
    • Solar energy resource assessment reports: summarize key monthly solar and climate statistics, perform MOS correction using reference datasets, summarize results in a clear and technically sound format using defined report structure
  • Support additional client technical analysis requests
    • Site suitability analysis: prepare summarized statistics and complete wind turbine manufacturer site suitability input worksheets and checklists
    • Shadow flicker and sound impact analysis
  • Participate in ArcVera Research and Development activities

Talents and Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology, Engineering, or related field. Prior industry experience will also be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Familiarity with computer programming and statistics
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate results clearly and concisely
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and cloud-based file management
  • Communicate effectively and concisely for internal and client activities
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in a remote office environment
