Alternative Power Solutions Corp. (APS), a growing, solar energy design, engineering and installation company, seeks a Business Development Representative for our Houston office.

Position Overview: 

The Project Engineer position is established to provide technical design services to the project operations team.

Reporting: The Project Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Manager of APS.

Substitute: The Engineering Manager will take the responsibilities of the Project Engineer in his/her absence.

Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities for the Project Engineer are to assist the Engineering Manager in the development and design of technical requirements for the installation of all solar products. Develop all architectural plans and schematics based on guidance from the Engineering Manager, customer needs and regulatory requirements. Work closely with the Project Operations Manager to ensure compliance with design requirements and maintain a "first in class" installation.

Scope of Work:

  • Assisting in the design and development of all technical engineering.

The Project Engineer responsibilities will be:

  1. Design residential and commercial photovoltaic, and or Solar Thermal installations, including production of plans for building permit application and construction. Includes specification of components, design of system and mechanical and or electrical points of connection, site plans, layouts, mechanical details and electrical and schematics
  2. Work with a multi-disciplined team to design and produce construction plans as above for large photovoltaic projects. Includes co-ordination with Energy Consultants, Design Engineers and with Project Management
  3. Provide design support to Sales and Project Management as required
  4. Conduct site inspections with Project Manager as needed
  5. Design of multiple projects simultaneously
  6. Prepare permit applications at the appropriate building inspection/planning departments of City/ County offices for submittal by Project Managers.
  7. Ability to read and understand architectural plans and schematics

As with all positions at APS, the Project Engineer must be dependable, orderly and able to work both individually and as a team player.
