Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) is seeking a Project Coordinator to support the Green Schools & Awareness for Communities about Energy (ACE) Programs, in addition to assisting with renewable energy projects. This is a full time position working typical office hours, Monday-Friday. Target start date is first week of August 2005; applications must be submitted as soon as possible.

SEI is a small non-profit organization based in Marin County. Through funding from federal, state, city, and private organizations, SEI helps communities, school districts and multifamily housing developments design and implement energy efficiency and conservation programs.

PROJECT COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The SEI Project Coordinator supports the activities of the Project Managers and Project Directors and will report to the Executive Director. The majority of this position will coordinate a variety of work under the California Green Schools, including interfacing with educators and students, coordinating trainings, creating innovative approaches working with schools and the community, and a variety of project management responsibilities.
Green Schools is an Alliance to Save Energy program aimed at improving energy efficiency in K-12 schools and providing education about energy and its connection to the environment. This position will simultaneously support SEI's Awareness for Communities about Energy (ACE) projects focused on energy efficiency improvements to schools, homes and small businesses. As time permits, this position will also assist SEI staff on projects focused on the solar & the alternative energy sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
- Support all aspects of implementing the Northern California Green Schools Program,
- Support all aspects of implementing SEI's Awareness for Communities about Energy (ACE) Program. Activities may include supervising college and high school interns and reviewing the Excel-based outputs from energy efficiency surveys.
- Conduct research (via the Internet, phone calls, and meetings) and help to coordinate events in support of clean energy partnerships within and outside of California.
- Assist with day-to-day program oversight and coordination, including some administrative work
- Prepare reports and spreadsheets quantifying and tabulating findings
- Project management including budget tracking and time management
- Provide logistical support for training workshops and meetings
- Make presentations at training workshops
- Serve as a clearinghouse for information related to energy conservation in schools
- Work with all SEI team members to develop and implement innovative programs and/or expand community based programs. Activities may include identifying funding sources and writing grant proposals
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with environmental education, energy conservation, and solar or other renewable energy technologies is preferred. The successful candidate will have all or most of the following qualities, skills, and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental education, energy management, environmental sciences, or other related field or equivalent work experience
- A clear understanding of the public education sector
- Familiarity with environmental/energy education tools and techniques
- Basic awareness of energy conservation energy efficiency and alternative energy concepts
- Effective organization skills
- Proven communications skills, including excellent writing and verbal skills
- Able to work both under direct supervision and independently
- Fundamental project management knowledge
- Ability to follow through and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build rapport with a wide range of people
- Computer skills; word processing and spreadsheet capabilities are essential; website management skills a plus
