The Land Conservancy has preserved over 21,000 acres of land and has helped towns receive more than $229 million in grants to purchase and protect land throughout the state. Our programs are made possible through the generous support of our members, corporate partners, and local foundations.
88 cents of every dollar raised by The Land Conservancy directly supports our programs. In 2009, The Land Conservancy of New Jersey became the first land trust in the state to receive accreditation from The Land Trust Accreditation Commission.
Position Overview
The Land Conservancy of New Jersey is hiring a Project Assistant to support our organization's educational and planning programs.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Writing, technical research, and data analysis for a variety of planning and grant applications.
- Assist with the completion of Environmental Resource Inventories, Open Space and Recreation Plans, Trail Plans and grant applications.
- General office management, assistance with Human Resources, and ordering of supplies for office.
- Assistant to the President and Vice President of Programs: completion of tasks as requested by President and Vice President including preparation for Board of Trustees meetings and subcommittee meetings.
- Provide assistance, as needed and as time allows, to the Development Director and Land Preservation Director.
- Attendance and assistance at Development programs and events: assistance with events hosted by the Development staff including The Land Conservancy's premier fund raising events (Pedal for Preservation and the Gray Cup).
- Oversee The Land Conservancy's Scholarship program and support our internship program.
Qualifications
The candidate must be a:
- Self-motivated, team player with the ability to meet deadlines, remain flexible, and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Have self-discipline and time management skills necessary to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- A working knowledge of Photoshop and familiarity of the Adobe Suite Products including InDesign is a plus.
- Possess a valid driver's license as well as the ability to travel as needed to perform duties.
- Attained a higher education degree in a relevant field.
