The Commonwealth Foundation is an intergovernmental organisation,
funded by Commonwealth governments to support civil society
involvement in sustainable development: and to facilitate
pan-Commonwealth and inter-country connections between people, their
associations and communities.
Applications for the post of Programme Officer are invited from
Commonwealth citizens for recruitment on local terms. Applicants must
have prior permission to work in the UK.
Description:
This post is within the Foundation's Programme and Communication Group
(PCG), which is a team of Programme and support staff, working to the
Deputy Director, responsible for grant-making, communications,
relations and networking, evaluation and monitoring, major programmes
and events.
Within the team structure, the new post includes major responsibility
for development and implementation of civil society programmes, but
the post holder will also contribute to other aspects of PCG work.
Applicants will need to have a first degree and at least 5 years
experience in development work in developing countries, including at
least 2 years working on programmes preferably in at least two regions
of the Commonwealth.
We are above all looking for an innovative and creative team player
who thrives on work under pressure, alongside committed colleagues.
Excellent report writing and communication skills are essential.
A 3-year contract will be offered. Salary will be in the range of
£21,000 - £30,000 with the starting level depending on experience.
