The MSC's vision is for the world's oceans to be teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. Through our internationally recognized certification and ecolabeling program, well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognized and rewarded in the marketplace, through the leadership of our partners. Over 716 fisheries around the world, representing 19% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC program and MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 66 countries.
Overview of Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Program Director, USA, to lead our dynamic and ambitious US team, and deliver the MSC's over-arching aims and objectives in the region. You'll be responsible for managing a high-performing, dynamic team across our key work areas of fisheries, supply chain and markets, and communications ensuring strategic oversight and delivery of the US country plan. Building awareness, trust and understanding across a broad range of stakeholders and consumers will be core to success in this role.
As our next Program Director, you will be a leader and manager who has the experience and ability to motivate and manage a team effectively, and to foster a positive can-do mind-set and a focus on objectives. You will be an engaging and confident external ambassador and negotiator for MSC externally with the ability to build a strong network. You also enjoy working with concepts, models, and strategies, seeking intellectual challenges.

- Excellent knowledge of the US seafood industry, supply chain, sustainable development and resource sustainability issues

Note: MSC is an international organization, and our employees all demonstrate a level of cultural awareness, and value the diverse views and approaches relevant to the MSC program. The MSC is committed to flexible working. MSC's current requirement is that staff spend a minimum of 50% of their working time each month in the office, the remaining time may be worked from home. This may be subject to change in the future.
Compensation & Location
- The preferred location for the role is Seattle, WA, though candidates based in the Washington DC area are also welcome to apply.
- The salary range for this position is $145,000-$162,000 USD; medical, dental, and long-term disability insurance, matching contributions and employer discretionary contributions in MSC's 403b retirement plan, 25 days annual leave plus 11 US Federal holidays.
