Position Overview
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit trails & greenways organization, seeks a Program Coordinator to join our Western Regional Office in downtown Oakland.
This is a temporary, part-time position from June – August. This position will work closely with the Western Region Director to implement our active trail development and policy program work, which includes a trail feasibility study, our Active Transportation Resource Team (which provides technical assistance to low income communities), and our Bay Area Trails Collaborative (a regional trail system coalition effort).
Responsibilities
Tasks will include:
- Developing informational materials;
- Planning & coordinating meetings public outreach events;
- Researching & drafting blog posts & policy memos; and
- Project management (coordinating with partners to monitor progress, tracking tasks/hours/budget).
Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in recreation, transportation and/or sustainable communities planning, policy or advocacy, or a related field; experience doing community outreach activities;
- Strong writing and verbal skills;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Flexibility to help out where needed; and
- Some GIS experience a plus.
Compensation: DOE, no benefits.
