The Green Building Certification Institute, a separately incorporated entity with the support of the U.S. Green Building Council responsible for credentialing programs related to green building practices as defined by industry systems such as the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating SystemsTM, is seeking a highly-organized, detail-oriented professional to join the Operations Team. The Operations Team at GBCI drives efficiency of GBCI through standardization of processes and troubleshooting operational challenges.

Position Overview:

The Process Analyst will provide support to GBCI's rapidly growing Certification and Credentialing Teams, including learning and documenting a variety of complex business processes and information systems, working with Quality department to create a library of Standard Operating Procedures, and updating and maintaining GBCI's Policy Manual. The Process Analyst will work with the Operations Team to develop and analyze operational performance metrics and to implement process changes that improve overall efficiency of GBCI.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an expert-level understanding of the daily operations of GBCI
  • Create and maintain comprehensive process maps for multiple components of the LEED certification and credentialing programs (including both ‘as-is' and new processes)
  • Work with the GBCI community to understand and document current state processes and develop initial set of opportunities/alternatives for new or improved end state processes
  • Conduct analyses to support the identified alternatives for processes
  • Assist with the implementation of new business processes
  • Work with the Quality department to document Standard Operating Procedures and training materials for GBCI staff
  • Contribute process and policy content to GBCI's website and other public documents
  • Work with the Operations Team to develop efficiency metrics for GBCI
  • Lead initiatives to implement principles of Lean Management and other management systems across various processes
  • Responsible for developing timelines, creating milestones, and reporting progress on a regular basis
  • Support department business planning
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Implement industry best practices for program development, management, and delivery

Qualifications:

Education & Training Requirements/Preferences:

  • Minimum BA or BS in a related field
  • Certificate/Credential in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma (minimum Green Belt), or similar program
  • LEED-AP preferred

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years relevant professional experience in a position with operations responsibilities
  • Strong working knowledge of process efficiency theories/programs (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, BPM, CIP, etc.)
  • Professional experience documenting processes and/or writing public-facing policies and/or procedures
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Academic or professional exposure to LEED strongly preferred

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office
  • Experience with MS Visio or other process-documenting software required
  • Demonstrated aptitude for data visualization
  • Passion for and commitment to USGBC and GBCI mission required
