Position Overview
Windward has an opening for a Principal Environmental Engineer to join our firm. This is a partner-track position based out of our Seattle, Washington, office. The successful candidate will be seeking a creative, rewarding work environment to build a thriving green and brown infrastructure development practice.
(S)he will have demonstrated ability to succeed in creating engineered landscapes that deliver ecosystem services to people and places affected by pollution, resource extraction, development, and/or climate change. (S)he will form thriving partnerships with natural and social scientists; industry leaders; regulatory and policy decision makers; landscape architects and urban planners; and affected communities. (S)he will have the talent, drive and personality to be a widely recognized leader in ecosystem services engineering. A broad technical background is preferred. International work experience is a plus.
The successful candidate will have a professional engineering (PE) license in the State of Washington and at least one other jurisdiction; strong analytical, organizational, written and oral communication, interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to multi-task and work in both leadership and support capacities; and willingness and ability to mentor others pursuing engineering careers. (S)he will have a compelling project portfolio and strong recommendations from clients and regulators. (S)he will be capable of and committed to business development. The position will require interaction with clients from across the spectrum of the regulated community, including private industry, local governments and ports. Experience representing clients in dealings with regulatory agencies and special interest groups is essential.
