Park Ranger, Interpretive

~ The Department of Natural Resources has statewide responsibilities for the management and conservation of Georgia's natural and cultural resources. ~

Most of this work is conducted by DNR's six operating divisions which include: Coastal Resources Division; Environmental Protection Division; Historic Preservation Division; Law Enforcement Division; Parks, Recreation & Historic Sites Division and Wildlife Resources Division. The Board of Natural Resources, which is appointed by the Governor, oversees rulemaking for the agency.

Position Overview

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is seeking candiates for the positon of Interpretive Park Ranger, in Helen, Georgia. This positn serves at:

Smithgall Woods State Park
61 Tsalaki Trail
Helen GA 30545  

Responsibilities 

• Plans, develops and manages programs and exhibits to inform the public of forestry programs, or historical, natural, and scientific features of historical sites, state parks or museums. 
• Carries out state and federal mandated preservation programs and activities. 

Minimum Qualifications 

• Completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 

or 

• Completion of an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university. 

and 

• One year of full-time experience in recreational, historical, environmental, cultural or educational interpretive programming. 

or 

• Completion of a High School Diploma/GED. 

and 

• Two years of full-time experience in recreational, historical, environmental, cultural or educational interpretive programming.

Compensation: Salary is $2,026.83 per month (Pay grade 11). This postion offers annual, sick and holiday leave, health and dental insurance.
