Organic Farm Inspector

California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) seeks qualified applicants with knowledge of and experience in farming and food production as well as organic inspection experience for position of regular full time inspector associate. CCOF will provide specific training, as needed. Depending on ability and organizational needs, position may include up to 20% certification duties other than inspections. 

Job Duties:

• Inspect and investigate organic food producers, processors and handlers. Complete inspection reports in a timely manner. Travel in own vehicle. (Proof of insurance required; mileage reimbursed)  
• Assess compliance to the National Organic Standards (NOP) as well as other applicable standards.  
• Assist in a variety of certification related tasks Desirable and Relevant

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in agriculture or food science  
• Organic inspection training from Independent Organic Inspector's Association (IOIA)  
• Minimum two years experience in agriculture with a working knowledge of organic and conventional farming systems  
• Knowledge of and experience in post-harvest handling and food processing  
• Regulatory, environmental experience  
• Ability to efficiently write concise and thorough reports  
• Ability to converse professionally with farmers and food industry personnel  
• Support the values and principles of organic food integrity

Salary Range:  Commensurate with experience, negotiable
