The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) is a non-profit public interest organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
Position Overview:
SWEEP is seeking an individual to serve as its Nevada representative preferably in Reno/Carson City but possibly based in the Las Vegas area.
Responsibilities:
- Strategy and policy development;
- Outreach, coalition building, and advocacy related to state energy policy;
- Interaction with utilities, regulators, and other stakeholders to support and expand utility energy efficiency programs in Nevada;
- Interaction with state policymakers and the private sector to support energy-efficient building construction and retrofit as well as more efficient transportation in Nevada;
- Interaction and coordination with other clean energy advocates, state and local governments, the press and general public; and
- The Nevada representative will work closely with other SWEEP staff in developing policy positions and in preparing materials for use in these efforts.
Qualifications:
- Applicants should have at least 5 years of experience working on energy efficiency issues, policies or programs;
- Applicants should also have strong analytical and communications skills, ability to work independently, and a track record of "making a difference; and
- Experience working on legislative campaigns or on public utility policy/programs is a plus, as is experience working in Nevada.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience plus excellent benefits.
