Medicinal Mushroom Farm Assistant

Job Description:

This position will be a general labor position. You will be in charge of executing most stages of mushroom cultivation and mycomedicinal production. You will help keep all areas of the farm clean, maintained, and safe. There will be an open line of communication between the lab technician, the lab manager, production manager, and mycomedicinal manager. This job will require a minimum of 24 hours a week commitment.

Job Duties Included but not limited to: Substrate and Finished product processes: Preparing, Sterilizing, Assisting Inoculations, Organizing, and Packing substrates. 

Mycomedicinal processing: Cooking and Sterilizing substrate. Inoculating and Organizing substrate for grow out period. Packing and shipping. Processing product and Sacking product for sterilization. Final finishing work for the sterilized product includes minor heavy lifting after sterilization and grinding to a fine powder. Time management: Check with the Production manager for office needs during down time in the lab.

Secondary Tasks included but not limited to- Cleaning and maintenance for Labs inside and out, staging areas, storage areas, grow room (when needed) and Employee lunchroom.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- - Knowledge of "Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms" by Paul Stamets - Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision - Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems - Physically able to lift 50 pounds 

Special requirements: Willingness to work overtime, some holidays, and weekends as requested by Production Manager. All new employees must attend a beginner's seminar.
