Position Overview

Epson is seeking candidates to fill the position of Manager, Environmental Programs & Sustainability in Long Beach, CA. The Requisition ID number is:  2949. This role is instrumental in upholding Epson’s environmental commitments and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in North America.

Principal Accountabilities

In addition to the following Epson's policies and procedures, principle accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Environmental Programs:

  • Ensures compliance with local, national, and regional regulations, guidelines, and trends.
  • Determines manufacturing requirements to be compliant with regulations and communicates with appropriate parties.
  • Recommends, develops, implements, and manages environmental programs to provide appropriate solutions for reuse or disposal of EAI product.  Manages EAI’s recycling programs.
  • Primary point of contact for all regulatory related inquiries.
  • Manages budget for regulatory compliance for North America.
  • Coordinates EAI supplier compliance with parent company’s Green Purchasing initiatives.
  • Works with corporate compliance team in Japan to supply documents as requested from sales, marketing, service and operations.
  • Provides environmental impact statistics and reporting; maintains regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Works closely with product management to address environmental informational needs.
  • Supports corporate sustainability initiatives through energy savings, process innovation and optimization.
  • Supports product management in developing marketing of environmental benefits and initiatives.
  • Knowledgeable in EPEAT and Energy Star Program management.

Relationship Management:

  • Builds strong relationships with peers and senior managers to best meet company goals and objectives.
  • Manages and leverages relationships with vendors for a specific product/service (best price, best product, etc).
  • Maintains professional relationships with peers in other corporations, industry associations and regulatory bodies.

Department Management:

  • Operates within budgetary constraints, participates in the development of annual budget forecasts; participates in updating and reconciling operating and budget plans as required.
  • Develops and maintains written departmental standards and procedures.
  • Directly contributes to development of tactical and annual operating plans, defining goals and objectives for the group.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 8-12 years of experience with environmental programs
  • Completion of an undergraduate program or equivalent experience (B.A. or B.S.)
  • Experience with environmental & sustainability programs for consumer products
  • Consumer electronics experience is a plus
