Maine Lakes is a state-wide non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the values and benefits of Maine’s lakes, ponds, and watersheds for future generations through science-based action, education, and advocacy.
Overview
We are currently seeking applications for the position of LakeSmart Program Manager to oversee, manage, and grow our flagship LakeSmart program. The successful candidate will be committed to Maine’s lakes and have a passion for working with volunteers. Position could be full or part time, depending on the candidate, and will require a home/remote office.
- The LakeSmart Program Manager will create and execute workshops and trainings for adults;
- build relationships and foster partnerships with member lake associations and other lake conservation colleagues and organizations;
- manage and grow a volunteer program with more than 150 active volunteers across the state, including support of volunteer use of online apps for data entry;
- assist with development and fundraising activities;
- help develop and implement communications campaigns (print and digital); manage large databases;
- oversee rollout of a slightly revised LakeSmart program in 2022;
- develop new program ideas and initiatives that help expand LakeSmart; and
- work both independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Office space is available in Yarmouth, ME, but remote work in a home office space or a hybrid of some in-office and some remote time is possible.
- Flexible work schedule, including part-time hours or job sharing with another individual, may be available to the right candidate.
- Statewide travel required.
- A significant amount of weekend work, and some evenings may be required in spring and early summer.
Knowledge and Skill Qualifications
- Minimum BA/BS degree or higher (Master's preferred) in natural resources, conservation biology, environmental education or related discipline;
- proven success managing programs and volunteers;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- ability to travel independently statewide; familiarity with the concepts of Community-based Social
Marketing helpful; - competence with word processing, spreadsheet and database software, including online database and contact management programs; familiarity with Microsoft Teams helpful;
- excellent organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines;
- direct knowledge of lake science desirable; and
- the candidate must exhibit a strong commitment to lake protection, and a passion for working with volunteers.
Compensation: The LakeSmart Program Manager will receive compensation corresponding with experience. Salary range is $45,000 to $50,000. Posi5on incudes benefits.
