Description

Background:


This position will monitor and audit company operations on a regular basis to ensure
compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Maintain
required environmental operation procedures to ensure company and employee
awareness, comprehension, and adherence to approved environmental practices.
Review wastewater analytical reports and inspect company facilities to ensure
wastewater discharges meet local, state, and federal regulations. Prepare and
submit written recommendations to management. Prepare necessary government
paperwork. Interface with regulatory agencies as necessary.


General Duties:


The candidate will have extensive knowledge of environmental health and safety
regulations such as RCRA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, SARA, DOT, USCG, and
OSHA. The candidate should possess experience negotiating with both federal and
state regulatory agencies.


Responsibilities include developing strategic long term planning, implementing and
developing compliance programs, reviewing facility compliance with company
policy and regulatory requirements and facilitating new business within regulatory
restraints. The candidate must be accustomed to balancing multiple projects with
attention to organization and prioritization. The position requires extensive
knowledge of current computer systems and business software programs. The
candidate must be able to work across all aspects of facility business and be willing
to learn operations from each level of job position.


Duties include developing air and water permit applications and administered
programs involving waste minimization, process safety management (PSM), risk
management (RMP), and environmental information systems. Overseeing the
development of facility procedural manuals including integrated contingency plans,
environmental health and safety procedures manual, and corporate Environmental
Management System. Responsible for implementing corporate environmental
policies, in addition to performing comprehensive regulatory assessments.


Qualifications:


Some minimal travel will be required to other corporate facilities on a
team/consultory basis. Engineering or Environmental Science degree preferred. A
minimum of 3-5 years experience is required. Preference will be given to
experience in the Food Processing Industry. Experience with wastewater
treatment systems is preferred. Experience with Industrial CIP systems and
sanitation is a plus.
