HARRISON architects is a small firm known for our dedication to green architecture. Responsibilities
This is an Intern Architect or Interior Designer position. Your primary responsibilities will be freehand & CAD drafting on all of our projects and office support. This will include translating plan sketches into CAD, blocking out exterior and interior elevations, picking up redlines, writing meeting notes, answering the phone, and bits of everything else that goes on in a small office.
Qualifications
* At least two years of experience in residential wood-framed architecture or residential interiors. Candidates with less experience will be considered if most of the other qualifications listed below are met.
* Excellent design skills are more important to us than experience with green building.
* While this is not a design position per se, we consider translating sketches into CAD an integral part of the design process, so the ability to think and design while drafting is crucial, and your design sense will be called upon every day.
* Similarly, this is not exactly an interior design position. You may not have many opportunities to work with furnishings for example, but the interests, skills and training of an interior designer would be useful and appreciated.
* A command of free-hand sketching, especially perspectives, and/or facility with SketchUp Pro would be handy.
* You should be able to communicate quickly and clearly via the written word.
* Experience with the following Macintosh programs as well as Mac OS X would be good: PowerCADD, SketchUp, FileMaker Pro, QuickBooks Pro, Word, Excel, iView Media Pro, and Photoshop.
