Position Overview

We are seeking candidates for a Human Resources Internship in Fall 2014, in Washington D.C.

The mission of the Human Resources (HR) department is to support Greenpeace's strategic vision and goals by recruiting and retaining diverse, passionate and exceptional team members; providing proactive services that foster a friendly and collaborative work experience; administering policies and benefits that protect both staff and the organization; and promoting a strategic and interactive staff development program to aid staff in reaching their full potential.

The Human Resources intern will assist the HR department in reaching its goals through a combination of administrative support, research and project work.

  • The intern will also help with clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, mail delivery, and covering the reception desk.
  • Other potential projects include conducting research and making recommendations to improve existing Human Resource programs and developing new programs to meet departmental objectives.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be over 18, but do not have to be current students.
  • We're looking for people with excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong online research skills, the ability to work well independently, commitment to non-violence as a means of affecting change and enthusiasm for protecting the environment.
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in human resources and/or non-profit administration, experience using computer programs including Microsoft Office suite and some data entry or database use, strong written and verbal communication skills, and high attention to detail.

Program Details

  • We are flexible with your schedule and can help you receive class credit.
  • All internships are unpaid.
  • Unfortunately Greenpeace cannot provide travel or housing.

Benefits

  • You'll gain issue expertise, build valuable career skills and make connections.
  • In addition to job training, you'll have the opportunity to take part in trainings such as corporate campaigning, non-violent direct action, media relations and grassroots outreach.
