Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Project Manager

Our mission is to put simple tools for fighting climate change into the hands of individuals and businesses. The two most important things we do are fund projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and educate people about the nature of and solutions to global warming. 

As TerraPass continues to grow, we seek to expand our capacity to source verified carbon offset projects in North America. As a result, we're looking for a highly motivated individual to join our small, high-powered carbon team. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference by fostering new greenhouse gas emission reduction projects while having a great time building a start-up company in downtown San Francisco.

Here's what our Project Manager will do:

• Source new candidate projects, primarily in the United States. Build and maintain a pipeline of viable candidates to meet TerraPass' growing purchasing capacity.
• Negotiate financial agreements and contracts between TerraPass and project owners, developers, consultants, and brokers.
• Manage internal and external resources to project manage TerraPass candidate projects from concept to credit issuance.
• Build relationships with related project parties to identify and implement projects particular to TerraPass' requirements
• Conduct high-level technical analyses for projects new to TerraPass;  field new project requests from project proponents
• Develop and implement procedures to quantify emissions reductions and establish monitoring and verification plans, consistent with applicable standards
• Manage relationships with a variety of project stakeholders
• Contribute to carbon strategy as a key member of a small, focused carbon team

Here's what we're looking for in a candidate:

• Demonstrated experience sourcing new business relationships, whether within or outside the carbon markets.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and manage relationships with outside vendors and partners, including successful contract negotiation.
• Highly organized and disciplined project management skills; demonstrated experience managing large numbers of projects at diverse phases.
• Working knowledge of the carbon-financed project lifecycle, and a passion for creating new carbon reduction capacity.
• Experience writing formal documents within prescribed structures (such as regulatory submissions or client deliverables)
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Strong financial aptitude
• Calm under pressure

And here are the qualifications we're looking for:

• At least three years of relevant experience
• Environmental or energy-related engineering degree, and/or business degree with supplemental environmental experience
• Personal passion for TerraPass company mission essential
