The Clean Water Network, located in Washington DC, is a national alliance of over 1,000 citizen organizations working together to strengthen federal clean water policy is seeking an energetic, well-organized person to be our Grassroots Advocacy Coordinator. We are seeking an individual with environmental experience who is able to handle multiple tasks at once, works well with a wide variety of people and possesses strong written and oral communications skills. This is an excellent opportunity to work with national and grassroots groups on major advocacy and media campaigns. Responsibilities will include:

·Writing a monthly newsletter, action alerts, fact sheets, sample media materials and other campaign materials. Must be able to write concise, easy to understand materials with short turn around time.

·Coordinating CWN's grassroots advocacy campaigns on several clean water and wetlands campaigns. Must have excellent phone skills and be willing to spend hours a day on the phone talking to activists coordinating activities and explaining CWN policy objectives.

·Being the primary contact for grassroots CWN members. Includes providing details on federal regulations, legislation, and CWN policy positions, answering requests for information and relaying grassroots members' concerns and suggestions to the Director and Steering Committee.

·Serving as the Network’s meeting planner for several Washington, DC meetings. Includes serving as the primary contact for logistics including meeting space, hotel rooms, registration and scholarships.

·Organizing and coordinating media events and report releases around the country.

·Managing CWN’s listserves and member database.

·Working with CWN's web master to develop advocacy materials for our web page.

·Helping the Director with special research, advocacy and fundraising projects as they arise.

The ideal candidate would have some experience in grassroots organizing, newsletter writing, advocacy campaigns and/or legislative work, and a strong commitment to grassroots participation in national coalitions. Must demonstrate strong writing skills, good diplomatic skills and an ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Organizational skills are key! The Grassroots Advocacy Coordinator is an integral part of a small organization with a large membership and a national reach – we need a self-starter who understands how to help people work together.

Education: No minimum requirement

Additional Qualifications:
* Familiarity with Windows 2000, Filemaker database, and email lists is a plus.

* Superior written and communication skills

* Excellent phone skills

* Organization skills a must
