Description
~ Stand.earth was created to challenge corporations and governments to treat people and the environment with respect, because our lives depend on it. ~
Born as Forest Ethics, we were founded nearly twenty years ago by a group of dedicated people who were working day in and day out to solve a big problem: What do you do when the health and foundation of communities and their environment are being undermined? Over the years, our work and our approach has evolved from a dedicated focus on forest protection to taking on some of the root causes of climate change and environmental injustice.
As we’ve done since the start, we pursue audacious solutions, campaign for as long as it takes to see them through, punch way above our weight, and treat everyone, including our adversaries, with respect. From keeping communities safe from dozens of proposed oil by rail terminals to protecting more than 65 acres of forest from logging, our work has resulted in sweeping industry-wide changes and environmental protection on a massive scale.
The Position
Stand.earth is seeking a seasoned campaign expert to lead the strategic development, management and execution of our global campaigns and hold the rogue shipping and fashion industries accountable for their climate emissions.
If you are passionate about Stand’s mission and would find purpose and fulfillment in leading campaign teams focused on transforming the shipping and fashion industries, then read on! This might be the perfect role for you.
Reporting to the International Programs Director, the Global Climate Campaigns Director will have deep experience in global climate campaigning/policy, and experience building and managing campaigns including budgeting, team leadership, strategic planning and coalition building. This position will work closely with the fundraising and digital teams, and must have a strong interest and/or commitment to Stand.earth’s values. Stand.earth offers an excellent package of employee and health benefits.
The location for this position is in one of our hub offices in Bellingham, WA; San Francisco, CA; or Vancouver BC.
Stand.earth is leading campaigns focused on transforming the apparel and shipping industries. These industries combined currently account for 13% of international greenhouse gas emissions, and that share is projected to grow to 25% of international greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. These are critical sectors in the work towards a climate safe future. While these campaigns are scaling up, we are seeking a highly motivated International Climate Campaigns Director who is passionate about managing these campaigns and potentially others as we attempt to reverse the trend of greenhouse gas emissions.
