Overview:
One of Forest City Missouri's long-standing companies is hiring! Element Resources is one of the leading Battery Recycling facilities in the country and has been a mainstay in the Forest City community for over 30 years. Element provides an essential supply of recycled products to America's battery manufacturers to produce high quality, top performing batteries to power cars, trucks, and forklifts, which are vital to keeping our country's supply chain running.
The Environmental Manager is responsible for managing environmental programs and activities for the smelter facility. The Environmental Manager ensures compliance with environmental permits and applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
About the work location:
Forest City is a small town of about 250 people nestled in rural Holt County in Northwest Missouri. Only a 30 minute drive from Forest City, St. Joseph is home to 13 distinctive area museums, 12 annual festivals, amazing architecture listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Kansas City Chiefs Summer Training Camp. Responsibilities:
- Assure compliance with all Federal, State and Local environmental regulations involving air (title V permit), water, and Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA).
- Interaction with all above listed agencies to assure on going compliance as well as compliance of any process changes or the addition of new processes to the facility.
- Keep current on all new Environmental regulations which impact the facility
- Interact with the State and EPA to maintain positive relations and ensure all regulatory reports are completed correctly and submitted on time
- Keep up with all required databases and log sheets and ensure they are all completed correctly and filed using a track able
- Assurance that all fees, fines and permitting are kept
- Update Environmental procedures in line with changing permits and regulations
- Keep up to date with new regulations and regulatory
- Track all emissions for permitting requirements to assure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage all aspects of the landfill as well as all monitoring
- Manage all Solid Waste Management
- Keep the Plant Manager updated on all Environmental activities.
- Develop & train ALL employees and Supervisors on Environmental
Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Skills:
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences or Environmental Management
- At least 10 years experience in environmental management with a working knowledge of manufacturing processes and how they affect the environment.
- Previous experience and working knowledge of regulations under:
- Clean Air Act- National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP), and New Source Performance Standards (NSPS)
- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)- Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facilities (TSDF) Part B permit, and Large Quantity generator requirements; and, Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know (EPCRA)
- Clean Water Act- National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)
- Previous experience managing facility operations and oversight of environmental compliance programs
- Heavy industrial experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Able to perform continuous walking, standing, and lifting.
Equipment Used:
- PC with various software, office equipment.
- Personal protective equipment as required.
- This is a full time position, and working within the plant is required.
