Environmental Education Instructor

~ Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is one of the most respected and recognized residential environmental education centers in the northeastern United States.  PEEC, a private non-profit organization,  is the education partner of the National Park Service in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. ~

• This unique public/private partnership has served the education community for over forty years.  
• Approximately 24,000 people visit PEEC annually.

Position Overview

PEEC is now accepting applications for our 2021 season. PEEC Environmental Education Instructors will offer lessons and activities addressing a wide range of topics relating to natural history and ecology, environmental issues, outdoor living skills, teamwork, and communication. Group participants range from pre-school children to adults.

PEEC Instructor positions are typically six to eight month appointments, with the possibility of renewal for the following year. The 2021 season will begin in March and most employment will run through mid-November. Most instructors will work with our nature-themed day camp from July to August.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities will include the following:

• Plan and deliver environmental education programs
• Develop program activities & lessons facilitated at the center
• Assist with facility upkeep and receptionist duties

Qualifications

Qualifications for Instructor positions include:

• A college degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Education, or related discipline
• Experience teaching and/or working with groups
• Ability to work independently and as a team player
• A positive and progressive mindset, and an orientation towards working to complete tasks with quality
• Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and/or Lifeguarding are desirable

Salary

• $300 per week, plus room and board.
