MidAmerican Energy Company is the largest utility in Iowa and is strategically located in the middle of several major markets in the Midwest. We are currently seeking an Environmental Coordinator for our Sioux City, Iowa location.

Job Overview:

The Environmental Coordinator is responsible for the analysis of impacts of plant operations on the environment and for the implementation of appropriate environmental management systems, which assist the business unit and plant operations in meeting environmental goals.

In addition, this position assesses compliance of plant operations with environmental regulations and laws; evaluates and comments on proposed state and federal legislation and regulations; develops plant policy and procedures on environmental matters; prepares regulatory submittals for permits, environmental impact statements and other various documents; and works as a liaison between plant operations, environmental services and other company departments.

Qualifications:

Position requirements include: bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences or the physical sciences; a master's degree is preferred. Also, a minimum of five years of experience in environmental work or equivalent, with a minimum of two years demonstrated air, water or waste/land use experience.

This position requires an advanced knowledge of environmental policy, laws and regulations, with the ability to analyze and evaluate complex regulatory proposals and submit written comments. The selected candidate will also have strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task.

Compensation:

MidAmerican offers a comprehensive compensation package. Starting salary for this position is between $49,000 and $63,300 per year, with a full benefits package including life, health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), tuition reimbursement and pension plan.
