The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is the official regional planning organization for the northeastern Illinois counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will. CMAP developed and now leads the implementation of GO TO 2040, metropolitan Chicago's first comprehensive regional plan in more than 100 years. To address anticipated population growth of more than 2 million new residents, GO TO 2040 establishes coordinated strategies that help the region's 284 communities address transportation, housing, economic development, open space, the environment, and other quality-of-life issues.
Position Overview:
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is seeking to hire an Energy Efficiency Project Coordinator. This position is limited to the duration of the grant, set for completion on May 18, 2013.
Work includes professional assignments in a team-based environment coordinating the Chicago Region Retrofit Ramp-Up (CR3) - a $25 million building energy retrofit program on behalf of the metropolitan region and in partnership with the City of Chicago, the City of Rockford, and other regional stakeholders.
The position may include extensive contact with government officials, including elected and appointed officials, private financial institutions, civic and non-profit groups, sub-recipient staff working on CR3's various program offerings, and the general public. Work includes administration and coordination of the Chicago Region Retrofit Ramp-Up program, a U.S. Department of Energy program as part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA).
Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to, implementing scopes of work for various aspects of the program, coordinating outreach to partner organizations and governments to increase uptake in CR3 activities, and working with senior CMAP staff and partners to assure timely budget drawdown and reporting compliance.
Qualifications:
The position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in planning, communications, environmental science or related field. Experience of up to 2 years is required for the Assistant level and 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience for the Associate level.
Compensation: The range for Assistant is $42,500-$58,800, and the Associate is $52,500 - $73,500.
